We take the protection of your data seriously. This policy explains what data is processed when you use ArtifyRoute, on what legal basis, and what rights you have.

Overview

ArtifyRoute runs almost entirely in your browser. Your GPX files and routes are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers. We use no cookies, no tracking and no analytics. Only the technically necessary services described below are involved.

Content delivery and server logs

Our website is delivered through the network of Cloudflare, Inc. When you open this website, Cloudflare processes your IP address and technical request data such as the date and time and the requested page in order to deliver the site securely and quickly, for example to protect it against attacks. The origin server — operated for us by a hosting provider — is reached exclusively through Cloudflare's network and may additionally record technical request data contained in the forwarded request when needed for error analysis. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in providing a stable, secure and fast website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR); data is deleted after a short retention period. Map tiles from OpenFreeMap

The map backgrounds in the editor are loaded from the tile server OpenFreeMap (openfreemap.org). When you open the editor, your browser requests map tiles from OpenFreeMap's servers, which means your IP address and information about the map area you view are transmitted to them. OpenFreeMap acts as an independent controller for these requests. This processing is technically necessary to display the map (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). GPX files and your routes

GPX files you upload are parsed, rendered and exported entirely in your browser. They are never transmitted to our servers or to any third party, and they are not stored anywhere except in your own browser.

Session storage

Your current design (theme, layout, typography and route) is kept in your browser's session storage so it survives a page refresh. This storage is technically necessary, stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is cleared automatically when you close the tab. We set no cookies.

Contact

If you contact us by email, we process the data you provide (such as your name and email address) solely to answer your inquiry. This data is deleted once your request has been resolved and there is no legal obligation to retain it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21) regarding your personal data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Since ArtifyRoute stores your route data only in your own browser, you can exercise data erasure at any time yourself by closing the tab or clearing your browser's session storage.
